In 2018, the British Library acquired an illuminated medieval manuscript, the 'Southwark Hours', from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark (British Library add. MS 89309). The manuscript is a particularly fine example of a Book of Hours, a type of prayer book for the laity, made in Paris in the last quarter of the 14th century.

In this talk, Eleanor Jackson, curator of Illuminated Manuscripts at the British Library will take a closer look at this exquisite manuscript, exploring it's making, meaning and use.
