The Cathedral is an adaptable and unique venue for filming

As one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in London, the Cathedral provides an outstanding backdrop and a versatile space that has been used in a number of high profile productions including;

"The Crown" (Netflix), "The Night Manager" (BBC),  and "My Best Friend's Wedding" (for the Chinese film market).

The benefits of working in a central London location include being easily accessible by public transport, substantial back of-house space and good onsite-parking for large production vehicles.

Southwark Cathedral is a Premier member of Film London.

As well as the Cathedral,  we can offer three outdoor spaces:

  • Millennium Courtyard
  • The Churchyard
  • The Herb Garden

Southwark Cathedral is first and foremost a place of worship with a regular pattern of daily services. There are however opportunities to adapt the Cathedral diary to accommodate whole day filming and night filming, subject to negotiation.

For further information please contact the Development Director by email or telephone 020 7367 6704.

The Cathedral is primarily a place of worship and we believe that those who are here to worship can do so undisturbed.  A number of Cathedral's do not allow photography but we do encourage it outside of services and events.

Anybody wishing to take photographs inside the Cathedral during their visit (for their own use e.g not commercial) is asked to purchase a photo permit for just £1.00.

This permit includes a beautifully produced souvenir map highlighting our most important memorials, stained glass windows and history of the Cathedral.

Photography is not permitted during our any of our services or events.
