Our new Summer What's on Guide is now available

We love the summer months at the Cathedral, Bankside is buzzing with visitors and the sun is shining (hopefully!).

Events include us marking the retirement of Peter Wright our Director of Music after 30 years of service with a series of organ recitals by some of the most accomplished organists in the world, including Oliver Latry from Notre-Dame, Paris. The Friends of Southwark Cathedral host a talk by Dr Eleanor Jackson, Curator at the British Library on the Southwark Hours, an exquisite medieval manuscript .  The Friends also look forward to welcoming visitors to the Deanery on Saturday 8 June as part of Open Garden Squares Weekend.  

We can't wait to see Nic Fiddian-Greens monumental 3-metre high sculpture 'Searching for God Almighty' which will dominate the nave from the period between the feasts of Ascension and Pentecost.  Please do join us for these services on 30 May and 9 June.

We are delighted that Academy Award winner, LGBT rights activist and parishioner Dustin Lance Black joins us to talk about his forthcoming deeply personal memoir 'Mama's Boy' about growing up in a conservative Mormon household and Dr Paula Gooder hops across the river from St. Pauls to tell the story of Phoebe who was trusted by Paul to dleiver his letter to the Romans.

As well as our regular services we also commemorate the second anniversary of the London Bridge attack with an Act of Remembrance Evensong and Compline service on Monday 3 June.
