Monday 3 June 2019

We will be marking the second anniversary of the attack which will happen during the duration of the Inquest.

You are very welcome to join us for any or all of what will be happening on the evening of 3 June.

5.30pm - Memorial Evensong and Procession to the Tree of Healing in the Churchyard

The service will be sung by the girls and men of the Cathedral Choir during which candles will be lit for those who died. At the end of the service all will be invited to process into the churchyard to the Tree of Healing, blessed at the First Anniversary Service by the Bishop of Southwark, where an Act of Remembrance will be held.

The Cathedral will remain open all evening for people to come in and out to light candles, to leave flowers at the Tree of Healing, to sit and pray.

9.58pm - Compline (Night Prayer)

This service begins at the moment that the attack began.  At 10.16pm, the service will conclude in silence at the moment the attack was brought to an end. The Cathedral will then close.

Prayer

You may wish to pray the prayer which we used at the Cathedral in the aftermath of the attack.

Loving God, when terror came to our doorstep

and stalked our streets

you were there with us

in the fear and agony.

Remain with us

and with all those caught up

in the horror of these events,

the injured and distressed

those who died

and all who seek your peace

which passes understanding.

Amen.
