From Ascension to Pentecost visit the Cathedral to see 'Searching for God, Almighty Hands', a 3-metre Praying Hands construction in beaten lead by acclaimed sculptor Nic Fiddian-Green

Nic Fiddian-Green’s monumental sculpture of hands in prayer will dominate the nave of the Cathedral from the period between the feasts of Ascension and Pentecost when the Bible tells us that the disciples, with Mary the mother of Jesus, ‘were constantly devoting themselves to prayer.’ (Acts 1.14)

The artist says that these hands were ‘brought together to represent the gathering of people in fellowship to share their pains and through prayer offer all up to God who hears all.’  The church at this time prays ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ and in a place that has in recent years seen the best and the worst of human nature this installation will encourage us all to join in prayer.
