'Testimony'
On the evening of the First Anniversary of the London Bridge and Borough Market attack, there was a performance of a piece called ‘Testimony’ in the gathering in the Cathedral before a community Iftar was held
The piece had been written by local resident and writer, Michelle Lovric. She has interviewed many of those in the community caught up in the attack and it's aftermath. Many of those interviewed voiced their own words. It was an outstanding and deeply moving performance.
To mark the Second Anniversary the text of 'Testimony' can be found here. It is published by Living Bankside, the local residents group, with the agreement of all the participants and as a further act of remembrance of all that occured on 3 June 2017.
On Monday 3 June we will be marking the second anniversary of the attack which will happen during the offical inquest at the Old Bailey. You are very welcome to join us for any or all of what will be happening on this evening.
5.30pm - Memorial Evensong and Procession to the Tree of Healing
The service will be sung by the girls and men of the Cathedral Choir during which candles will be lit for those who died. At the end of the service all will be invited to process into the churchyard to the Tree of Healing, blessed at the First Anniversary Service by the Bishop of Southwark, where an Act of Remembrance will be held.
The Cathedral will remain open all evening for people to come in and out to light candles, to leave flowers at the Tree of Healing, to sit and pray.
9.58pm - Compline (Night Prayer)
A special service of Compline begins at the moment that the attack began. The service concludes in silence at 10.16pm, the moment the attack was brought to an end and the Cathedral will then close.
