Each year the Chapter donates a percentage of the planned giving that we receive from the Cathedral congregation

These funds are givien to those groups, charities and projects that are recommended to us by the congregation or who approach us directly for help. The Mission Allocation Group seeks a good balance amongst those we support and use the ‘Five Marks of Mission’ as a guide to help with this.

The Five Marks of Mission are:

  • To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom

  • To teach, baptise and nurture new believers

  • To respond to human need by loving service

  • To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation

  • To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth

The allocation from last year was £28,144; 10% has been kept in reserve to enable us to respond to emergency appeals.

For this year £25,330 has been allocated to eight charities in shares of £3,166.25p each.
